Last weekend was the best kind of weekend: filled with fiber and friends old & new. Saturday, I headed up to Catskill, NY for the Hudson River Knit & Spin hosted by the kick ass Tina. Give yourself a huge pat on the back Lady! It was awesome. Dutchman's Landing was a beautiful place to sit & spin. Right by the Hudson River.
Jessica (seated and spinning) and Tina (standing and grinning) before the Jessalu crackberry weather report(rain & thunder!) sent us down the road to the MuddyCup. It took me a minute to figure out why these cats were all over the place, but it finally dawned on me: Duh, the town is called CATskill.
The MuddyCup was huge and had no problem accomodating all the wheels. There was a lot of loud laughing and fun crazy talk (exploding cremora, Mr. T, who has the coolest orifice hook).
Good times! From left: Jaya, Jessalu, Becky. Not pictured due to my partial camnesia: Carolyn, Michelle and the two women knitting socks (one was a sock within a sock, conjoined twins style!) whose names I did not get. If I didn't have to work and could devote all my time to knitting & spinning and if gas didn't cost so much, I'd drive up to Catskill every week to hang with these women at their knit night. Imagine just traveling aorund to visit with different groups of knitters. Thursday, I'd be at Modern Yarn, Tuesday, I'd be in Catskill, who knows where I'd be the rest of the week. Wouldn't that be the life?
Anyway, on Sunday, Liam had a "playdate" (ick, I hate that term) and Mr. Kim was golfing, so Stella and I sat on the sofa and I finished the Rhapsody sock. Yee f-ing haw! It is a non-SOS sock, but I am glad it's done. The yarn is beautiful and swampy green. It's Farmhouse Yarn, Fanny's Fingering Weight in the Rhapsody colorway. My standard plain sock recipe. Started on May 2 and finished on June 29, 2008.
Nope, that's not a new sofa. I just changed the slipcover from red to white and switched the red polka dot blanket for a blue/green striped blanket. The white slipcover is light & airy for the summer and the dog hair blends right in.
Really, she is awake and moving around sometimes. But when I'm sitting & knitting, she is sleeping next to me. That's just how it is. She is one lazy dog.
Finally, time to announce the contest winner (randomly picked out of a bowl). ANGIE!!! I'll mail your book on Saturday when I go to the post office. Congrats! Coincidentally, Angie is having a contest too so go on over and enter.

Yay Angie! Woo Hoo. I wonder if the confetti will fall from the ceiling when she finds out! Those cats are way cool. Sounds like you guys had an awesome time. I'm right there with ya on doing the traveling knit nights. Your watermelon socks are lovely and yummy. Stella is adorable as ever. Now she really blends in with the couch.

Wouldn't that be the life! Hmm, all we need to do is create a need and figure out how to get paid. There are some peeps all over I need to visit. When you figure it all out, let me know :) In my dreams!
It was so great meeting you and those socks are hot!

Woot! I'm glad you had a good time, I really enjoyed meeting you. :) We are a singularly... interesting group of whack-jobs, that's for sure. LOL You are welcome back any time!
Love the socks, they really are lovely. It almost makes you wish it were cold enough to wear them, doesn't it?

I was so totally thinking the same thing. I want to go on Tuesday nights too! It was a ton of fun and you got some great pictures (I'm ashamed to admit how long it took me to *get* the whole Cat thing). Love the socks! And Stella is just the cutest!

I love the idea of just being a traveling knitter hitting all the knitnites and becoming this legend, everyone leaves a empty chair and a cup of coffee on the table in case the traveler comes by...hmmmmm think I'll write a story about that!

WOW!!!! Thank you, Kim! :D
I love the photos of your trip to the CATskill. It looks like a very fun group to knit and spin with.
Lovely Rhapsody socks and a marvelous model's assistant.

There'll be dogs in Hudson soon - we meet there in the winter, you should come up! ;o)
It was great meeting you 'in person' and I'm glad I could impart some pyro knowledge. ;op

Awesome weekend! I love the finished socks too -- and if there are any openings for Stella's position as Main Dog, I think I might be qualified: although not canine, I'm a champion napper.

Too bad my dog is black. I'd love to color coordinate her with my slipcovers!

Mr. Kim sure picked up a photogenic sock model. The socks are cool, they look like Popeye's can of spinach. The weekend looks like a blast.
