You go in the cage, cage goes in the water, socks in the water. Our socks.
Captain Carbon Monkey Socks: STR Sock Candy (cotton & tencel), Carbon colorway. Do you really need another link to the Monkey pattern? US #1 DPNs. Sock #1 started 6/28, finished 7/16. Sock #2 started 8/9, finished 8/26. Two months! It takes a long long time to knit a pair of socks if you don't immediately cast on for the second sock! Immediately cast on for the second sock! It's become like a command from above, a chant, a prayer. Immediately cast on for the second sock! Risa is the high priestess of this!
Love this sock and I've already worn it twice. Needing a break from following a pattern, I cast on for a plain vanilla stockinette sock in STR, Farmhouse colorway. The yarn was at its peak of ripeness as it's been marinating in the stash since Rhinebeck 2006. At lunch with Risa today, I just about finished the heel flap (doing a garter stitch flap to mix things up a bit). I'm glad as hell that Risa is working near me! Yippee! Here's the sock on vacation lounging against a tile wall in Asbury Park. I think I liked this colorway better in the skein than knit up.
As for the KPS #241 cardi, I finished sleeve #1 down the shore and I'm halfway done with sleeve #2. I intend to have this done & blocked so I can wear it on my flight to San Francisco on Tuesday. I have a biz trip. I'll have a little free time to check out yarn shops and of course eat some yummy food. Photos of the sweater when it's an FO.
On one of the rainy/cloudy days last week, we headed over to Red Bank for some antique/junk shopping & yarn shopping. Got to stop in at Wooly Monmouth, a nice smallish yarn shop. Helpful & friendly staff. Not a huge selection of sock yarns, some Trekking and a couple others that I forget and some Koigu. It's hard not to buy Koigu as evidenced by my purchase.
I scored the chair & green planter at the Asbury Antiques mall on Cookman Ave. Bargains!!
Many many thanks to Ina for tagging me (and the other wonderful & hilarious bloggers in MY SnB) a Rockin' Girl Blogger. I'm way flattered.
I'm tagging the following kick-ass bloggers, who I think haven't been tagged yet! I tried to pick women who haven't been tagged, but if you have, then consider yourself extra rockin'. (of course, save the button to your own server. I have to say it!). Yvonne: my wierd internet twin & friend and former Secret Pal. Deborah & Shameka: extraordinary lunchtime knitting buddies. Deb: my friend, neighbor and former mother of my wheel Kiwi. Kristy: a fellow obssessed sock knitter and we share the same blogiversary date. Faith, Angie & Sophanne: my blog buddies, who I hope to meet some day (Rhinebeck anyone?)
Finally, I'm 25,292 on the Ravelry list and there are 14,441 people ahead of me. I'm not in any hurry to get my invite, but I can't help checking every day.

the koigu is making me drool and I am loving the new planter... you find such great stuff!!!

Thanks for the Rockin Girl Blogger tag! Your other tag-ees just joined my bloglines. Can you say blog-addicted?
I love how the Captain Carbons look in the sand.
I'll reveal all of my noviceness in saying "I'll have to check out this Rhinebeck thing," guessing that it's akin to saying "I'll have to check out this Yarn Harlot person."

I love the title, but then I always loved that movie! And glad you're following the mantra. I immediately cast on for the second of the Apple Pie socks this morning on the train after finishing the first.
