FO ALERT!
Specs: Socks that Rock mediumwieght, colorway Foofaraw; my standard sock pattern on US#1 DPNs. Started in early June, finished June 28.
During the commute yesterday morning, I finished the second Foofaraw sock, so at lunchtime, I took Foofy out to see the some of the sights in lower Manhattan.
Foofy at the New York Stock Exchange. Capitalism, we salute you!
We stopped at Federal Hall and looked at the magnificent statue of George Washington. Washington was sworn in as president at Federal Hall. History is cool.
In Chase Manhattan Plaza, Foofy hung out with this bronze foot welded to the top of a speaker (which was blaring some dialogue in Spanish & English). This was part of some art exhibit and there were several speakers around the plaza, with different bronze body parts welded to the top. I saw a heart, a hand and maybe a spleen.
We ended up at Seaport Yarn, where I bought some goodies for my SP10 spoilee. SP10 ends tomorrow so I'm mailing out the last package tomorrow and revealing my identity. I got her a skein of Trekking XXL and a skein of Jitterbug sock yarn (forgot the name of both colorways), some sock-shaped point protectors, size US#2 DPNS and a US#1 circular (29 inches) in case she likes Magic Loop. Below is the bag of loot.
Of course, I picked up some goodies for myself: Barbara Walker's Treasury of Knitting Patterns and a skein of Jitterbug in the Popsicle colorway (more Monkeys anyone?).
This weekend is going to be a whirlwind of fun and I have to start prepping/cooking/packing tonight. Tonight, I'm making Grandma Chance's Fudge Pie to bring to the Jersey Spinners party at Risa's house tomorrow. There should be quite a few spinners/knitters in attendance. I doubt I'll have time to pre-draft any fiber tonight. Immediately after the Jersey Spinners party, I'm heading off with Liam to the Delaware Water Gap for his first camping trip. I have no tent and haven't been camping in years. A friend is loaning us a tent and we're meeting up with a huge group of people so if I forget anything, I won't be up sh*t creek. Have to pack for the camping trip tonight too.

Those are some great pictures--Foofy had quite a day! Being largely clueless about flora and fauna, though, I've no idea what that flower is, but it sure is pretty!
Can't wait until tomorrow!

Secret Pal wins the contest!!!
I am silly. Duh, I didn't realize that the photo title appears when you put the cursor over it. Now, I just need to know who my Secret Pal is so I can mail her the prize yarn! Guess I'll have to wait a few more days, huh?

The flower is very pretty, some variety of Monarda. But more striking to my eye - erm, there are three feet under your skirt!

Oh wait, oops, Secret Pal already guessed bee balm.

Your spoilee is going to be very happy! :)
It's so weird to be reading knitblogs and come across my grandmother's name. LOL! Hope they liked the pie!
